About
AvNav is an open-source navigation server and chart plotter. It runs on a computer on the boat — often a Raspberry Pi — and the display is a browser on a phone, tablet, or laptop, so the helm does not depend on a single dedicated screen.
It is aimed at owners and builders who want a self-hosted plotter rather than a commercial chart app. Charts, AIS, and instrument overlays are served from the boat. It sits in the same family of onboard open-source tools as OpenCPN and Signal K, with a web UI instead of a native desktop application.
